Explore the Mediterranean countries with this 12 night Mediterranean Sea Explorer Cruise. The cruise sets sail from the Port of Civitavecchia, the port nearest to Rome and sails to Mediterranean coastal cities of Italy, France and Spain.
Our first port of call is Livorno, a Renaissance-era port city, and the gateway to the Tuscany region and all it beholds. Sign up for shore excursions to discover Cinque Terre; tour Lucca & Pisa; take a transfer to Florence for a self-tour; or explore Tuscan Landmarks across Florence & Pisa. You can even opt for a Taste of Tuscany with a walking tour of Lucca, a tour of one of the famous villas and a farmhouse experience.
The Port of Monte Carlo beckons next; once the ship docks, set out to explore the many riches of this resort city and its surroundings. Sign up for a taste of the Riviera and explore Eze and Nice; enjoy a sightseeing tour of the Highlights of Monaco & Monte Carlo; or visit the Jewels of the Cote d’Azur: Nice, Eze & Monaco (with lunch). You can also enjoy a scenic trip to St Paul de Vence.
On the 4th day, the Mediterranean Explorer Cruise docks at St Tropez. Enjoy the scenic views; explore the city; and enjoy shore excursions to the Villages of Provence.
Our next port of call is Ajaccio, the capital city of Corsica, a French island on the Mediterranean Sea and the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte. Enjoy a panoramic drive from Ajaccio to San Bastiano Pass and thereon, walk through flower-filled lanes to the 17th Century Cargese Greek Village or sign up for a Panoramic Prunelli Cruise down the Prunelli Gorge. Both shore excursions include a tasting of the local delicacies.
The 6th day we are fully at sea and on the 7th day of this Mediterranean Sea Cruise, we arrive at Almeria, Spain. Sign up for shore excursions to explore the Best of Granada and the Alhambra (neighbouring cities) or set out to see the Almeria Highlights.
Exploration of Spain continues with the ship’s arrival at Ceuta, the next day. Nestled on the African north coast, along the boundary between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, Ceuta offers some cool experiences, in addition to being a perfect gateway to the historic city of Tetouan, in Morocco.
After one full day at sea, the cruise ship docks at Marseille, France. Cruise passengers can enjoy shore excursions to explore the Highlights of Marseille; spend a day in Provence, visiting some of the most beautiful villages of France – namely, Rousillon and Gordes; or set out to explore Aix-en-Provence Highlights on a walking tour.
The cruise is coming to an end; the 11th day brings us to the quiet, old fishing village of Sète, renowned for its canals. Enjoy a quite day exploring Sete and reveling in its simplicity or head out on a shore excursion to Carcassonne — a fortified medieval city where people still live. Encased by 52 towers and two concentric walls, the city of Carcassonne is famous all over the world and is unique in Europe.
The 12th day of the cruise, we arrive at the disembarkation port! But, don’t disembark as yet – there is a full day of shore excursions ahead! Experience the different facets of Barcelona with our many shore excursions and/or enjoy an exciting performance of Spanish Flamenco dance with dinner.
On the 13th day, disembark from the cruise ship with happy memories of your 12 Nights Mediterranean Explorer Cruise.
