Big Wild Goose Pagoda in Xian Tour Guide:
One of the most important Buddhist Pagodas in China, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda has an important place in the history of Buddhism in China, as it was specifically constructed to house the many relics and scriptures related to Buddhism that the hierarch Xuanzang collected in India during the course of his travels. It is within the pagoda that 50 hierarchs translated 657 kinds of sutras from India from Sanskrit into 1,335 volumes of Chinese sutras.
Climb the spiral steps and step out through the arched doorways of each floor of the Pagoda for exquisite panoramic views of the Da Ci’en Complex, its gardens and adjoining stupas and water fountains. Later visit the adjoining Da Ci’en Temple, a majestic 6th Century AD temple rebuilt in the 7th Century AD by Emperor Li Zhi in memory of the Queen Mother.
Check out the 16th century 15-tonne iron bell in the Bell Tower, a Drum Tower and a Xuanzang memorial with murals depicting the monk’s journey and his relics in the temple. A magnificent water fountain show set to music, the largest of its kind in Asia, offers a befitting finale to a tour of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda attraction of Xian.
