Mozart’s Birthplace and Residence Tour Guide:
Fans of the greatest maestro of all time, Mozart (Full name: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) will love these Salzburg attractions. Salzburg was the city where Mozart was born; to-this-date, he remains Salzburg’s most celebrated son. Salzburg celebrates him and his exceptional compositions with two magnificent museums housed in the very house where he was born – Mozart’s Birthplace and his residence in his later days in Salzburg – Mozart’s Residence.
Spread across 3 floors, this one-of-a-kind permanent exhibition at Mozart’s Birthplace brings to life the musical path the composer’s life took through early prints, first editions and autographs. Discover the path Mozart took as he grew up in Salzburg and developed his musical talents, the house where he lived, the instruments on which he composed his first compositions, the mementos he treasured. You can even enjoy hearing excerpts from some of his most acclaimed operas.
Mozart’s Residence is the house where he lived during his later years in Salzburg, before he moved on to Vienna for good. The exhibit here gives you a glimpse into the adult Mozart; the relationships he shared with his family; and the history of the compositions that got him acclaim. View Mozart’s original fortepiano; see his family portrait in the ‘Dance-Master’s Salon’; and enjoy an audio-visual display about Mozart’s life and his Salzburg surroundings.
Guided tours of both the museums are available on prior request.
