Melbourne Zoo Guide:
Established over 150 years ago, the Melbourne Zoo is the oldest zoo in Australia and amazingly magical in all its experiences.
Sign up for ‘I, Animal’, an astoundingly innovative interactive experience that combines technology, theatrical effects and camping activities for an adventure of a lifetime right in the midst of wild animals – with just an i-Pod (Zoe) for company. Discover the secrets of the oceans surrounding Australia with a visit to the Wild Sea exhibit, the largest exhibit of Melbourne Zoo and watch penguins and seals dive and play, and catch their prey from special underwater viewing platforms.
Stroll through elevated boardwalks meandering past the treetop homes of Orang-utans, where you can see them swinging from tree to tree, branch to branch, feeding and nesting. Enter the Trail of the Elephants and you will find yourself transported to Asia, and in the midst of Asian Elephants and their families, feeding, resting and splashing around in their special pool.
You can also engage in Close-up Encounters with Kangaroos, Giant Tortoises, Meerkat and Giraffes for eye-catching photographs fit to be framed; experience life behind the scenes with a Behind the scenes encounter with the magnificent Asian Elephants, majestic Lions and Sumatran Tigers, Orang-utans and seals; and Roar ’n’ Snore to the sounds of wilderness in the Historic Elephant Exhibit.
