Kuranda Scenic Railway for a magical journey through the enchanted surroundings of Australia’s world heritage listed rainforests. Chug right through the heart of tropical rainforests; across the majestic Barron Gorge, past native wildlife and scenic waterfalls, through as many as 15 hand-hewn tunnels and 37 towering bridges; from Cairns to Kuranda, the Village in the Rainforest or vice-versa.

Constructed in the late 19th century, the Kuranda Railway is a tremendous engineering feat that required the combined efforts of hundreds of workers for 9 years. The heritage train has continued to cover the journey of 37 kilometres since then, running between the Freshwater Connection and ending at Kuranda.
