Bondi Beach Guide:
Bondi Beach, one of the most popular beaches of Australia, is just the place to head for a heady dose of sun, sand and the surf. A glorious stretch of beach, just a kilometre-long, Bondi Beach offers beach bums, surfers, swimmers and leisure tourists of all ages, with the perfect setting for just letting their hair down and relaxing in the face of a sunshine. Moreover, it is the only oceanic beach close to Sydney – just 7 kilometres away from Sydney Central Business District.
Revel in the magic of the waves lapping your feet as you enjoy a stroll down the coastline; take on the huge waves on a surfboard; and enjoy the exhilarating thrill of swimming in the azure blue waters of the Tasman Sea (make sure that you stay between the flags that mark the designated safe swimming areas). Kids can enjoy frolicking in the Children’s Wading Pool at the Northern End. In winters, you can even spot a whale in the distance, making their way to warmer waters.
Enjoy a cool drink or a snack from the many eateries lining the area; settle down on the warm sands with a bestseller and plenty of sun block (the ozone layer above Australia is the most damaged). You can even enjoy events such as the Festival of the Winds and Sculpture by the Sea; shop for great deals on fashion, beach attire, sunglasses and jewellery; and check out the exhibits at the Bondi Pavilion Community Cultural Centre. Do not forget to take in the stunning sunset.
